This workshop is for any level of student interested in oil painting using the technique of direct oil painting known as alla prima, which creates a quick, fresh, and spontaneous look. This workshop will also include instruction on how to paint light and shadows and the colors they create, techniques to finish paintings faster, as well as James' philosophy and concepts of painting from life and photographs. This will be a demonstration and instruction workshop as well as individual help and one on one teaching.
James is a contemporary realist painter investigating ongoing trends and popular products and their effects on the consumer. He has been exhibited nationally, and is currently in many personal and public collections. He has appeared in several publications including New American Paintings West #114 or his Grocery Aisle series, and New American Paintings #126 for his “#interiors from @instagram” series.
Location: Flower Mound Art House
Day and Time: Tuesdays, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Workshops begin at 10am each day and goes until 2:30pm. There will be a half hour break for lunch.
Materials: A recommended supply list will be emailed to you after you have registered. Supplies will not be provided.
Deb is a world renowned polymer clay artist. She has written several books and tutorials. She has been featured in many publications, including the recnet polymer clay compilation Polymer Journeys by Sage Bray. She travels to teach live workshops and has numerous online tutorials on several sites, including CraftArtEdu.com
